Pstereo Festival in Trondheim, Norway is a salve to the system after so many overwhelming events that pack each day with more and more and more music. The festival runs for two evenings, with four stages of music featuring just a handful of handpicked bands. The organizers also do an admirable job of balancing out the bitter with the sweet, the rough and the smooth by booking rockers like The Sword and Baroness alongside the folkier leanings of Soak and Band of Horses.

Our amazing Managing Director Michelle will be providing reports from the festival when it kicks off tomorrow evening. But while you wait for that, here’s some picks for the Nordic artists to pay attention to that are playing Pstereo 2105.

Hvitmalt Gjerde (playing Friday @ 4:30pm on Kanonscenen Stage)

What better way to kick off your Pstereo experience than kicking off your shoes to do a little shimmy-shake to the throwback surf rock sounds of this Norwegian outfit.

Matoma (playing Friday @ 11pm on Veita Scene Stage)

This Trondheim-based producer and DJ has been having quite a 2015 already, after nabbing adding his glitterball beats to the new Jason Derulo album and scoring some choice remix work from Tegan & Sara and Enrique Iglesias. He’s also set to reach an even bigger audience when he performs at the Billboard Hot 100 fest in New York and takes off on a North American tour in October and November. Catch him now before his rising star goes supernova.

Spidergawd (playing Saturday @ 5:45pm on Elvescenen Stage)

Featuring Motorpsycho’s Bent Saether and Cadilac’s Per Borten, this trio already blew the doors off the 2015 Roadburn Festival with their groove-laden hard rock anthemics and are set to repeat that action on the unsuspecting attendees of Pstereo. Gird yr loins, people.

Aurora (playing Saturday @ 8:25pm on Veita Scene Stage)

She’s been receiving some well-deserved airplay on Apple’s Beats1 Radio and the SoundCloud stream of her stirring song “Running With The Wolves” has racked up over 1 million plays. Reason enough to worship at her feet when she takes the stage at Pstereo this Saturday.
