A departure from their French house/disco beat origins, Finnish duo TJH87 is resonating a high-as-a-kite vibe to the delight of earholes worldwide with the release of their remix of Just Hold On.
We asked the Finns why they decided to remix the song by American DJ Steve Aoki and One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, which was released late last year and has been streamed 200 million times (and counting) since then. They told us that “it’s becoming our habit to turn uplifting, happy tracks into moody and atmospheric versions, borderline melancholic, but so many times there’s the flipside of the song we wanna dig into.”
We dig their foray into deeper soundscapes like their remix of Just Hold On, and find it a superior take on the flipside. More, please!
To accompany the new remix, TJH87 created a Spotify playlist called “This Is What We Call Post-Trance” as a response to answer the question on how they describe their new sound. “Especially now that Just Hold On remix has reached such a wide audience we get asked to describe our music,” said the duo. “Our usual answer is that we call it Post-Trance, but that doesn’t really help, so we made a playlist – and we will keep updating it.” Here’s that playlist for your post-trance pleasure:
