Whew! Day Two of SXSW was a blast. Let’s dive into the recap, shall we?
Mobile Finnish Sauna
The first thing we did when we left the comfy embrace of our beds in Austin, TX was head to the mobile sauna. It’s just as you are imagining…a sauna that is mobile. The mobile sauna is currently making its way around the country, so if you’re interested in trying it out check the Traveling Sauna Map to see if it’s headed to a city near you.
Radio Helsinki/John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Broadcast
We taped performances by Small Time Giants, Tuvaband, Peppina, and Tuomo & Markus. We’ll let you know when the videos of these shows get uploaded to our YouTube channel, but for now please enjoy the following Instagram media from that event:
Small Time Giants (DK/GL)
Tuomo & Markus (FI)
Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival Party
We were invited to a private rooftop party sponsored by Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival, an event in Greenland, and enjoyed performances by Tuomo & Markus, Small Time Giants and Uyaraq x Peand-eL. We caught some of the action on video (seriously, though, subscribe to our YouTube channel so you get notified when we upload new stuff) and will release it into the wild sometime soon. To keep you hungry for it, here’s a taste of what’s to come:
(Some of) Small Time Giant (DK//GL) and Uyaraq (GL)
Later, back in the chaos that is 6th St. during SXSW…
Dark Times (NO)
At B.D. Reily’s pub, young punkers Dark Times slayed their set with their high energy and wit. The crowd inside was visibly impressive and impressed, but what impressed us the most were the many people outside who heard the band playing through the pub’s large open windows adjacent to the stage who stopped to enjoy the show from the streets. An excellent show of support for an excellent band.
