Is it really only the third day of this SXSW craziness? Feels like we’ve been here forever. And considering the fact that we’re spending our days surrounded by great music, that is not a complaint. We spent the day bouncing around beautiful downtown Austin catching sets by some of the best Nordic acts around and getting the chance to sit down with the wonderful people in Ceasetone (for an interview that will be published up here later on).
Our first stop was at the crazy and swag-filled SXSW Trade Show, with tons of companies and entities playing their wares for a hungry horde of badge-wearing beauties. And as we descended upon the Sweden @ SXSW booth, we lucked into a short acoustic set by Ember Island!
Later on, it was a wonky but still great set by three of our favorite Danes – The Foreign Resort – playing a dusty and energetic set for the folks at Shangri La. Always a pleasure to see those lads, especially when they’re sweaty and cranking out their signature post-punk dreaminess.
Speaking of Danes, there’s a young bunch of power pop/punkers named Yung who are set to set the world on fire with the release of their forthcoming full-length on Fat Possum Records. At least that’s the impression I got when the quartet tore up the backyard space at Lucille last night. It was a breakneck set that barely gave us a moment to catch our breath. Can’t wait to see where they go from here.
That was hardly it, friends. We finally got to see Aurora in person (so amazing), fall deeper in love with Satellite Stories, and swooned over Summer Heart. Check out more photos below, and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook to keep up with us.
