All this week, our lovely and talented Managing Director Michelle is going to be in Oslo, reporting from this year’s Øya Festival. Taking place at Tøyenparken and at various venues around the city, this impressive event boasts a great international lineup, including shoegaze pioneers Ride, disco godfathers Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, and shapeshifting popster Beck.
The festival wisely also puts the spotlight on the wealth of talent residing within the borders of its host nation, and they didn’t disappoint this year. Everyone from folk-pop wonder Sondre Lerche, disco house stunner Bjørn Torske, and the long-running collective Jaga Jazzist is on the bill, as well as plenty of lesser-known artists. Even if you’re not hitting up Øya this year, you can still share in the musical delights of this coastal nation. Check out this Spotify playlist of the homegrown acts playing this year’s Øya Fest, brought to you by the good people at Music Norway.
