Hailing from Greenland’s capital city of Nuuk is one of the country’s more popular Indie rockers, Nanook. Their name is loosely translated from the word “nanoq” which means polar bear. While it may be difficult to follow along with the lyrics (the group sings in their native Inuit language) the sound of the words are very flowing, and the music is rather catchy.

Listen to Seqinitta Qinngorpaatit (Our Sun Is Shining On You) to hear what I mean:

If you care to sing along to the chorus:

Inuit:

seqinitta qinngorpaatit
tarravut attuutilerlutik
alianaak
toqqukkatit annippatit

English:

our sun is shining on you
our shadows meet
it is so nice experiencing it again
you express what you have kept hidden
