Don’t let the toothsome name of this Finnish musical collective throw you off the trail. Kemialliset Ystävät are the real deal. This project, led by Jan Anderzén, has been burbling and squelching around the international experimental scene since 1995, popping off on Stateside labels like Beta-lactam Ring and Secret Eye. But their latest album Siipi Empii (out on April 6) could bring them their biggest audiences yet thanks to their new association with L.A.-based Leaving Records. We just hope the world is ready for their splooshes of electronic wizardry and playful spirit, both of which are ever-present on “Kuriton Painovoima,” one of the first singles from this new LP. If you’re not already zonked on edibles, this will get you as close to that feeling as possible.
