Finish industrial band Itä-Saksa (East Germany) is back with their first album in 16 years, and it’s a beautiful and surreal soundscape that I do not wish to escape. Das Monument, the band’s newly released fourth album, was recorded in Finland and Belgium in the studios of experimental artist Timo van Luijk. It’s all the things I like: dark, twisty, profound, dance-able, and the reflection of multiple and surprising influences. Me likee.
It’s hard to pick a favorite track from Das Monument (and I’ve tried after several listens straight through) so I won’t. I will, however, seek out Itä-Saksa’s previous albums ’cause I’ve got a new favorite audible obsession. Listen and love, babes.
