Bergenfest 2016As compared with other music festivals around the world, the lineup for Bergenfest 2016 looks relatively modest. And when you consider that they’re spreading out the 49 artists over the course of four days (June 15 – 19), it seems even more so. That’s the beauty of this annual music event in Bergen, Norway, though: the organizers put together probably one of the most carefully crafted collection of musicians and dole them out so that you get ample time to appreciate as many of them as possible.

This year’s Bergenfest lineup deserves your full attention as well. You get the chance to see Sigur Ros playing a wealth of new music that they haven’t even recorded yet as the Icelandic band is road-testing this fresh material before heading into the studio. You’ll be able to marvel at the future pop sounds of Norwegian singer Astrid S. You’ll have your hair blown back by the theatrical metal of Ghost, your heartstrings yanked on by post-punkers Chain Wallet, and be charmed to bits by Norwegian hip-hop artist Lars Vaular. And that’s not even getting into the bevy of international artists descending up on Bergen for the weekend.

At this point, we’re not sure what you’re waiting for. You should be making plans to get to Norway to witness all these surely amazing performances firsthand. As ever, we’d like to help make that happen for you. We have Bergenfest 2016 tickets and travel packages at the ready for you. All you need to do is click here and start making your plans for what will undoubtedly be a weekend to remember. While you do so, enjoy this playlist, put together by the good people at Bergenfest, of the many acts playing their festival this year.
