It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Swedish singer/songwriter Adiam, but 2015 looks to be the year when she breaks out in a big way. Her single from a few months ago, “Desert Island,” was a slow, simmering beauty, and her latest release, “Quiet Desperation” is the kind of mirrorball-lit future pop jam that sets souls alight. And the chirpiness of the music beautifully runs in contrast to the harsh truths of the lyrics, where Adiam sings of her silent suffering as she watches a loved one struggle through hard times or worse. Dynamic pop songs like this could save us all from years of cookie cutter bullshit.
